Summary: The Shipwrights' Company can offer some support to young people looking to start boat /ship building and engineering careers in the marine and maritime industry including those at the start of their careers as apprentices ,on boat-building courses and as university students. This is done through grants from the Billmeir Award Scheme, University bursaries and the Shipwrights' Apprenticeship Scheme, through which Shipwrights' offers support to qualifying small businesses and companies starting apprenticeship training programmes. Note/Restrictions: We support young people looking to start boat/ship building and engineering careers in the marine and maritime industry. We support young people at the start of their careers as apprentices, on boat-building courses and as university students with grants and bursaries and, through the Shipwrights’ Apprenticeship Scheme (SA Scheme), we support small businesses and companies in the industry with starting apprenticeship training programmes, something often not considered but vital to opening the doors of industry to young people.
