Summary: The Society provides financial support to ex-mariners and their dependants in retirement and those who are unable to work at sea owing to accident, illness, disability or for compassionate reasons. Financial support can be in the form of a one-off grant towards household equipment.
Note/Restrictions: The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society has supported seafarers through crisis for 181 years and continues to do so as we navigate this latest challenge. Support is available to UK and Irish citizens throughout the British Isles. Applicants must meet set criteria and be receiving all the state benefits to which they are entitled. A minimum of five years’ sea service is required.
