Summary: The focal point of the Charity is Mariners’ Park in Wallasey.
The Nautilus Welfare Fund provides an opportunity for retired seafarers and their dependants to live independently surrounded by like-minded neighbours and with access to a full range of support services to ensure they enjoy a long, safe and happy retirement.
The 16 acre parkland site overlooks the River Mersey. Here the Charity has 125 houses for rent, including a 40 place extra assistance apartment scheme. The 32 place Mariners’ Park Home is on the same site. Promoting retired mariners well-being is a key activity and on site there is a Hobbies Room, Games Room, Gym, Hair Salon and Café for residents to use. Residents can also benefit from the Mariners’ Park Home Care Service which can provide personal care and practical support.
The Charity also provides one off grants for essential items and household repairs.
Retired Mariners in Merseyside, Hull, Southampton/Portsmouth and Glasgow can also benefit from the Charity’s free Caseworker service, which provides support to claim welfare benefits and grants, as well as providing advice and information on housing, health and social care support.
Note/Restrictions: Applicants or their spouse/partner should have had a career in the Merchant Navy at any rank. For more information about any of the above services please contact our Wallasey Office.
