Seafarers Group Calls

Age UK runs weekly telephone friendship groups for older people with a seafaring background. The calls are a chance to share experience, memories, and make new connections in a safe and friendly space. Each call is run by a volunteer facilitator, is around 45 minutes long and takes place at the same day and time each week. We have capacity to take on new older people on these groups, and would love to receive more referrals.

Making a referral

It’s quick and easy to make a referral, just follow the steps below:

• You should select the option that they want to be part of a group call with other members.
• You will need permission from the older person to make the referral and some basic personal details, such as name, DOB, address and telephone number to make the referral
• Email [e-mail] each time you make a referral with the person’s full name so we can make sure we prioritise the referral
